Frequently Asked Questions

+ What is the East End Women’s Museum?

The East End Women’s Museum aims to research, record, share and celebrate the stories of east London women past and present. We do this through exhibitions, events and community engagement, in person and online. Please see About Us for more.

+ When does the East End Women’s Museum open? Can I visit?

The Museum will move into its permanent home and begin to welcome visitors in the next year. Sign up to our e-newsletter for regular updates about the building project. We started as a pop-up, and continue to run activities and events across east London and online - hope to see you there!

+ Where is the East End Women’s Museum?

The museum’s building is part of a new development in Barking town centre, next to Abbey Green. In the meantime, our staff are working from home.

+ I would like to collaborate with the Museum

Great! Please see here for further details about how we work with partners and drop us a line using this google form.

+ I would like to volunteer for the Museum

Thank you so much! Please see here for current and future opportunities, and get in touch via the form below.

+ I would like to donate something to the Museum

Thank you for thinking of us. If it relates to the history of women in east London, then do get in touch and tell us more. Please note that until we have our own building, we have very limited storage space, so we are unable to accept everything that we would like. We may suggest other museums or archives to approach.

+ Can you help me with my studies / research?

While we try to support relevant queries, please note we are a very small team with limited capacity to respond at length. Please also note that the Museum does not currently hold an archive or collection. All of our research material is publicly available on our website.
