Frequently Asked Questions
+ What is the East End Women’s Museum?
The East End Women’s Museum aims to research, record, share and celebrate the stories of east London women past and present. It will move into its permanent home in Barking in 2021. In the meantime we will be consulting with audiences, running events, planning and fundraising. Please see About Us for more.
+ When does the East End Women’s Museum open? When can I visit?
The Museum’s building is currently being built, and will open to the public in 2021. Follow us or sign up to our e-newsletter for regular updates. In the meantime, we have a programme of activities and events - hope to see you there!
+ Where is the East End Women’s Museum?
The museum’s building is part of a new development in Barking town centre, next to Abbey Green. Currently we do not have an office, but have been generously given desk space at Eastbury Manor House in Upney.
+ I would like to collaborate with the Museum
Great! Please see here for further details about how we work with partners.
+ I would like to volunteer for the Museum
Thank you so much! Please see here for further information.
+ I would like to donate something to the Museum
Thank you for thinking of us. If it relates to the history of women in east London, then do get in touch and tell us more. Please note that until we have our own building, we have very limited storage space, so we are unable to accept everything that we would like. We may suggest other museums or archives to approach.
+ Can you help me with my studies / research?
The Museum does not currently hold an archive or collection. All of our research material is publicly available on our website.
