Discover fascinating characters from east London’s past, from activists like Mala Sen, Minnie Lansbury and Milly Witkop, to suffragettes Annie Clara Huggett and Sylvia Pankhurst, nurses Annie Brewster and Edith Cavell to entertainer Josie Woods - and many more. It ends at the site of the East End Women’s Museum’s new permanent home, set to open in 2021.
In this free, self-guided trail, you will walk around Whitechapel, Bow and Barking and find the traces of these remarkable women. It’s available online, and in print at local libraries. The trail is flexible, so can be completed in any order and at your own pace.
